When can I move in?

If there is a storage space available that meets your specific storage need, you can move in anytime.

Do I require Insurance for the storage unit?

We highly recommend that you contact your insurance provider to obtain content insurance for your storage unit.  Manitoulin Storage does not insure the contents of your unit. Terms and Conditions regarding insurance coverage will be documented in the Lease Agreement.

How much notice needs to be given before I move out?

All contracts are month-to-month, however, we do require a 7-day notice before you move out.

What type of documentation do I need to provide in order to rent a space?

We require Government issued photo ID.  For example, Driver's license, Health Card, etc.

How do I make a payment?

We prefer that you set up a pre-authorized credit card payment (we accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express), but we you can also pay via e-transfer by sending your payment to manitoulinstorage@gmail.com.  You can also pay in person via Interac or Cheque.

How do I know how much storage space I will need?

You can use our guidelines on the "Rent Storage" page on your website or call us for assistance

Are there any items that I am NOT permitted to store in my unit?

Items which fall under the following categories are not permitted to be stored in our units: Explosives, Flammable Liquids, Toxic Materials, and Perishables.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.

Tips and Tricks for Self Storage

Properly label your boxes on each side
Colour code your boxes to correspond with different areas of your house or apartment
Stock up on packing supplies such as boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, mattress bags, markers, and labels.
Do not overpack your boxes.
Consider placing Skids or Wooden pallets underneath your boxes within the unit
Use vertical space when packing your storage unit, use the height of your storage unit to maximize space.
When packing heavier items use smaller boxes and label them accordingly
Invest in plastic containers for more fragile items such as glasses, plates, photos, or books.
Leave items that you will need easy access to near the front of your storage unit.
